Construction students from the county have completed a hands on project at a Northumberland school.

During the summer holidays, young people enrolled on courses at Ashington Construction Training Centre installed a new fence for St Aidan’s R C First School’s outdoor learning area, working together with council contracted supplier Jewson, who donated materials free of charge.

Projects such as this have contributed to the training centre gaining an outstanding rating from Ofsted.

Head teacher Samantha Leslie said: “The pupils and staff of St Aidan’s are delighted and extremely grateful for the donations of time, effort and resources which are helping to transform our learning area .”
