RESCUE teams were called out after reports of a number of cars stuck in the sand on Blyth beach at the weekend.
Members of Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB) were called out at 6.35pm on Saturday after the coastguard was notified of 4x4 vehicles stuck at the south end of the beach.
As no lives were in danger, and the cars were above the high water mark, no units were required to attend but the coastguard asked the TVLB if they would be willing to attend.
Three brigade members took the TVLB Land Rover to the scene and helped tow the vehicles off the beach.
Officers from Northumbria Police also attended.
