A CRAMLINGTON shopping centre has seen overwhelming generosity from its shoppers following the launch of its festive Giving Tree.
Launched earlier this month in conjunction with Sainsbury’s, the Giving Tree forms part of Manor Walks’ Christmas celebrations and aims to raise awareness of those less fortunate during the festive season.
The Cramlington shopping centre is asking its visitors to buy an extra present, where possible, to help make this Christmas special for disadvantaged children living in the region. All contributions will then be donated to the Metro Radio Cash for Kids campaign in time for Christmas morning.
Manor Walks’ general manager Bruno Coppola said: “As the heart of the community we are asking our shoppers to join our retail partners and remember those who may not be as fortunate at Christmas by purchasing an extra gift that can be donated to a disadvantaged child living in the north east.
“We have already received a great response to the Giving Tree from our shoppers however we’re hoping to help as many children as possible this year, so we are looking for even more donations of new toys, clothing and other gifts suitable for children aged from birth to 18 years.
“Contributions can be left at the Giving Tree, which is located in Sainsbury’s, throughout December and all donated presents will then be given to the Cash for Kids campaign.”
In addition to the Giving Tree, Sainsbury’s is also helping to raise money for St Nicholas Church through its Memory Tree which allows people to donate £1 to place a bauble on the tree in memory of a loved one who has passed away. With a wide variety of shops including high street favourites and independent stores, Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure in Cramlington offers a huge amount of choice to suit a range of tastes. Shoppers can also enjoy up to four hours free car parking at Manor Walks Monday to Saturday, while parking on Sundays and during the centre’s late night shopping evenings on Thursdays is unrestricted.
People wishing to donate a gift to the Manor Walks Giving Tree this Christmas have until 11pm on Monday, December 17, to make their contribution.
