High tea has been served up as two care homes celebrated the opening of their new coffee shops.

Astor Court in Cramlington, which offers residential care and specialist care for those with dementia, and Astor Lodge View, a nursing care home for the elderly, both recently welcomed the addition of new modern coffee shops and hosted a tea party for residents and families to celebrate.

The aim is to allow visitors to help themselves to beverages and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a chat in a relaxed setting with all the charm and atmosphere of the traditional coffee shop.

Care manager at Astor Care Complex, Mandy Mackley, said: “Both coffee shops look fantastic and we’ve had great feedback from residents and their families.

“It was great to be able to celebrate the official opening of our new facilities while honouring the important message of Nutrition and Hydration week.”
