Shops will suffer loss of market

WHAT prompted the elders of Cramlington to dispose of the Wednesday outdoor market and car boot sale?

The market used to attract many outside visitors looking for shopping diversity and bargains before doing their serious weekly shop in the precinct.

Blyth has readily accepted the new stallholders with open arms and today, Wednesday, the market was thriving.

The wife and I rummaged round the car boot sale stalls before shopping in Blyth’s Morrisons instead of Cramlington Asda. Other smaller shops also took our trade.

Will a new proposed M&S store on the old site attract more visitors to the town? I think not, and without doubt many other Cramlington shops will suffer.
