A conference is being held to help people find out how they can protect their hearing.
The Northumberland Bionic Ear Show is due to take place on Wednesday, May 8, from 10am to 1pm at Newbiggin Sports and Community Centre.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has joined up with Deafness Research UK to host the event, which is part of Deaf Awareness Week from May 6 to 12.
The show is designed to raise awareness of the dangers people are exposing to their hearing, offering practical advice to people who may already have hearing difficulties.
There will also be the world’s largest ‘ear’ to take the audience on a journey from the ear to the brain, a free hearing screen, and an exhibition featuring a variety of stalls.
Andrew Weeks, sensory support team manager at the trust, said: “A key message of the show is that hearing is as precious as sight.”
