A talented young singer from south east Northumberland has imprsesed judges in a singing competition to win a place in the regional finals.
Amy Greer, who attends Astley High School in Seaton Delaval, has secured her place in the regional showcase finals of the Open Mic UK singing competition, which will be held in Newcastle on November 3.
Open Mic UK is a national music competition for singers and solo artists in the country, and attracts more than 9,000 acts every year, who can perform either covers or original material of any genres.
Year 11 pupil Amy, from Blyth, has performed a number of events with Astley High, most recently at the whole school end of year assembly in July, where she sany Emilie Sande’s Read All About It.
Student progress Leader for Year 10 and 11, Dan Gilhooley, said: “It was a pleasure to have her perform in the end of year assemblies last summer which were enjoyed by both staff and students alike.
“I wish her all the best in the competition and hope that her efforts are rewarded.”
