Police are appealing for information after a sneak-in burglary in Morpeth between 10pm, on Monday, June 17, and 8am, on Tuesday, June 18, at an address in Cottingwood Lane.
A bag containing cash and personal documents was stolen.
It was later recovered in a river nearby.
Officers are carrying out patrols in the area and speaking to local residents reminding them of the importance of crime prevention.
Dave Simpson, Neighbourhood Inspector for the area, said: “Anyone who saw anyone hanging around or looking suspicious in Cottingwood Lane overnight between Monday and Tuesday is asked to contact us and pass any information on as soon as possible.
“Keep your valuables out of sight.”
