Social care survey needs users’ views

USERS of Northumberland’s social services are being asked to share their views on the care and support they receive.

Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be sending out a postal survey in the next few weeks in an attempt to improve and develop the services available.

The survey is being conducted for a second time and the results will not only be used locally to help improve things in Northumberland, but also nationally by the government to get a better overall picture of social care provision for adults.

Coun Ian Lindley, pictured, executive member for adult care and well-being, said: “An honest opinion is really important in helping us find out where we need to work to improve services and support to enable all our people to live life to the full.

“As a council we are committed to improving the quality of life and well-being of our communities.

“I ask that if you do receive a questionnaire please take the time to share with us all your views and experiences.”

The last survey revealed that in Northumberland 93 per cent of those who responded were satisfied with the care and support services they receive as compared to 90 per cent of people who responded nationally.

However, just under half of the respondents in Northumberland felt that their quality of life was either good, very good, or so good it couldn’t be better, as compared to 57 per cent nationwide.

No doubt councillor Ian Lindley will have allready vetted those who filled in the questionare to deliberately distort the views posted in this newspaper. Wait till the government cuts start to bite, allready we are seeing in the news media that the old disabled people are being are being singled out for retribution from this evil CONDEM government. Only today in a Saturday newspaper, they are asking why the government are murdering 100 old people a day, either through starvation or freezing to death. Yes, we are in financial trouble but the wholesale murder of the most vulnerable in society is not a price that sensible people want to pay.
