ON Saturday, September 24, my friend was air-lifted from Embleton’s beautifully scenic beach by the RAF Sea King helicopter to Ashington’s Wansbeck General Hospital.
The response to her distress call was tremendous.
There were seven coast guards from Newton, two paramedics, one retired nurse and two helicopters.
It really was a wonderful exercise complete with flares and between tides.
Now that we know she has three broken bones in her ankle, we are stunned and amazed by the efficiency of all those involved, and none less than the staff at Wansbeck General Hospital.
Many thanks to you all – you were all so wonderful.
