Youngsters have given rugby league a try with a special training session.
Astley Community High School students were welcomed back to school with a rugby league coaching session from Hull Kingston Rovers players.
Year 9 boys and girls squads along with the Astley boys and girls Sixth Form Rugby Academy, enjoyed a special coaching session from the Super League stars Terry Campese, Graeme Horne, Chris Clarkson, Thomas Minns, James Greenwood and head coach Chris Chester.
The Hull KR players talked to Year 9 and 10 students during assembly on important qualities for studies, sport and life such as sacrifice, commitment, discipline and motivation, before visiting Seaton Sluice Middle School.
Astley High Rugby League development coach, Lee Carbutt said: “This was a great way to start the new school term and inspire students to strive to do well in their studies, sport and life.
“Students got involved, making the most of this unique visit from the Hull KR players.
“Becoming one of the leading schools in the north east for rugby league development and our involvement in the RFL Embed The Pathway scheme have enabled access to inspirational opportunities like this for our students. Our National Final win also gave us a higher profile within the heartlands of the game.”
