Staff and pupils at a Blyth school are celebrating a cash boost.
The Dales School has received £4,000 thanks to staff at pharmaceutical company MSD who won two awards at the North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) Awards.
The Cramlington-based company has a long-standing partnership with the school, which provides specialist education for children aged four to 11 with special needs, helping build an outdoor classroom area and refurbish the school’s playground.
Headteacher Hugh Steele said: “For more than a decade, MSD have been ever-present in their support of our school and what we strive to achieve, and the company’s support has enabled us to implement projects and provide additional equipment and activities to the children here that would otherwise have been impossible.”
“As an Outstanding School, The Dales School has a growing reputation locally, nationally and internationally.”
Martin Inskip, who won the Outstanding Contribution Award, said: “It was a huge pleasure to have won both awards.
“For myself, it’s the culmination of a lifetime’s work.
“From planning and building the Cramlington plant to seeing it grow into the outstanding plant it is today which is globally recognised as a world class operation.
“All of the MSD Cramlington staff have a stake in both awards.”
