Newbiggin RNLI will hold its annual fundraising lifeboat day this weekend.

This year’s event, on Sunday, will be the first official one for the station’s new Atlantic 85 B class lifeboat.

The day’s events get under way at 1.15pm at the lifeboat station.

Newbiggin Ladies Lifeboat Guild will be running a variety of stalls to raise money for the station.

There will also be music and entertainment during the afternoon.

At sea the Atlantic 85 lifeboat Richard Wake Burdon will be launched and carry out a sea demonstration with a helicopter display from RAF Boulmer, subject to operational availability.

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the volunteers and get up close to view the rescue equipment used on emergency call-outs.

For the children there will be a bouncy castle and roundabout.

There will also be a variety of stalls including games, raffle, souvenirs, fancy goods and gifts.

During the afternoon refreshments will be available from within the boathouse.
