A devoted husband is on a mission to raise money for charity after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Steven Shepherd, from Bedlington, will be taking part in Ironman UK on August 4 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event, which takes place in Bolton, will see Steven complete a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and a 26.2-mile run in just 17 hours.
The 41-year-old decided to raise the money in support of his wife Lynsey, 37, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Steven, a civil servant, said: “My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer last August and has gone through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which was horrible, but she just gets on with it, so this is my way of showing her my support.”
