Sgt Esmee Webley received her Silver Gliding Wings after completing the new course with the RAF Air Cadets.

Silver Gliding Wings has been achieved by Sgt Esmee Webley, an Air Cadet with 2522 (Bedlington) Squadron.

She was the only cadet selected from the North region. She spent a week at RAF Syerston where she completed 43 launches in the Grob Viking Glider as part of the Silver Gliding course, which ended with her completing a solo flight in the glider.

This is a great achievement for Sgt Webley, who lives in Morpeth and attends the Air Cadet unit in Bedlington, and she is now one step closer to her goal of becoming a pilot in the RAF.

The RAF Air Cadets is a youth organisation for ages 12 to 20. It provides many skills and training opportunities and is ideal for anyone interested in the RAF and aviation.

The Bedlington unit operates every Monday and Thursday evening from 7pm to 9.30pm. For more information, call 01670 829947 or email oc.2522@aircadets.org
