A community radio station aiming to secure a full time licence is celebrating an online milestone.
Following Bedlington-based Synergy’s second 28-day broadcast on FM and online in September, officials were stunned to get more than 10,000 ‘hits’ following a thread posted on www.bedlington.co.uk
John White, station presenter and member of the South Northumberland Radio Group, posted an initial ‘Synergy FM’ thread message introducing the concept of a community radio station based in the town.
Local residents and people living further afield quickly joined the online conversation about plans for the radio station.
John said: “When I began this thread I never imagined how many hits it would achieve.
“There has been genuine interest.
“We hope the level of good will and support for what we are trying to do as a genuinely accessible community radio station to serve south east Northumberland will continue as we await the outcome of our application for a full-time broadcasting licence.”
