MAY I through the columns bring to the attention of all sufferers of ME/CFS (myalgic encephalopathy/chronic fatigue syndrome) that a new support group is to start in Cramlington.

A steering group is at present working hard to form this new group and are seeking new members with the intention of helping the many people from this area who are suffering from ME/CFS.

ME/CFS is an illness which is known to affect 12,000 people in our region, 25 per cent of these are severely affected and many are housebound for long periods, according to the figures based on the Department of Health prevalence rates.

The new group will be named ME/CFS South East Northumberland Support Group and will meet on the second Thursday of every month at the Meeting Rooms, St Paul’s RC Church, Dewley, Cramlington NE23 6EF, at 1pm until 3pm.

If you are a sufferer of ME/CFS, please come along and join our new group or please contact Brian Boland on (01670) 818115 or Sue Dennis on 07877 526627 for further information.
