A special event will take place in Newbiggin this month for everyone who has their tale to tell.
The Newbiggin Tale Trail will take place on Wednesday, August 21, with a variety of activities throughout the day.
Organiser Hilton Dawson said: “Newbiggin is a town full of tales – the stories of almost 50,000 people who have lived and worked here over the generations and centuries.
“Written by or about people from Newbiggin, some of these are great tales of heroism and achievement, others are more down to earth.
“There are tales about things which happened years ago and there are those which were written yesterday.
“Everyone has a story, everyone has their own tale to tell and the Tale Trail is an opportunity to tell it and to listen to others as we wind our way through the town during the course of one day in August.
“Join in, drop by the wayside or stay with us for the full day.”
The day will kick off at 1am at Café Indulgence with a look at Newbiggin in the news.
Events will incude a look at Newbiggin’s sporting and other heroes at the Bank House Club at noon, Newbiggin’s ‘famous literary figures’ at 1pm at the White House Café, 1851 and other disasters at the Lifeboat House at 3.15pm, and family tales at the Maritime Centre at 4.30pm.
Newbiggin’s tales are full of nicknames and the day will end with a nickname competition.
