A TV talent show winner is tuning up to entertain shoppers when a department store hosts two special shopping days to help raise funds for a cancer charity.
Cramlington jazz singer Brenda Sokell will be bringing some Christmas cheer to Rutherfords department store in Morpeth by performing for customers during back-to-back Saturdays on December 6 and 13.
Brenda won a singing competition on ITV’s Alan Titchmarsh Show, where judges included musical theatre legend Elaine Paige, before the contest went to a public vote. Her prize was a chance to record her own CD version of White Christmas with the Chelsea Pensioners in 2010.
The talented Cramlington grandmother will perform a selection of festive songs when Rutherfords hosts a special shopping event, which will help to raise money for AMMF, a charity for Cholangiocarcinoma, or bile duct cancer.
Rutherfords hopes to raise hundreds of pounds by offering a free gift wrap service, where customers can have presents bought in the family-owned store that day, beautifully wrapped in lieu of donations to the charity.
