A TEENAGER was left with a cut above his eye after being assaulted while playing football in Bedlington.
The 16-year-old was playing in Gallagher Park at 7pm on Friday, April 13, when he was approached by a group of boys asking to join in his game. He refused, prompting one of the youths to punch him in the face.
The victim needed two stitches to a cut above his eye.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to call them on 101 ext 69191.
