A teenager is preparing to take a brave leap to mark her birthday in style.

Brooke Pritchard will be taking part in a tandem skydive on her 16th birthday to raise money for St Oswald’s Hospice.

The 15-year-old, from Ashington, has wanted to take part in a skydive since watching her father Wayne complete one when she was just five, but had to wait until reaching the legal age limit.

Brooke has set herself a target of raising a minimum of £500 and has so far brought in £390 ahead of the jump on November 10.

Dad Wayne said: “She watched me do a skydive when she was a kid and has wanted to do it ever since.”

Brooke said: “I’m doing it for St Oswald’s because they’re local, they help a lot of families and are passionate about their work and patients.”

A collection bucket has also been set up at Studio4 hair salon in Milburn Road, Ashington, where her mother works.

And Brooke has also been taking part in other fundraising activities, including a cake sale.
