COUNCIL tenants will be given a stronger voice through a new forum.
The Northumberland Tenants Voice is the first of its kind in the UK.
The aim is to enable greater joint working to achieve better teamwork between member housing organisations.
One of its key objectives is to give tenants and residents the opportunity to comment and contribute to emerging housing policies.
Coun Tom Brechany, executive member for planning, housing and regeneration, said: “Northumberland has a long tradition of tenant involvement and partnership working informally.
“This is the first time tenants from different housing providers have come together to make their views and aspirations known.”
The group will meet four times a year to discuss issues and will be supported by housing services staff.
All travel and expenses of participants will be paid.
