THOUSANDS of people are lining the streets of south east Northumberland today to mark the momentous day when the Olympic Torch passes through the county.
Crowds are thronging the streets for the torch route through Ashington, Newbiggin, Stakeford, Bedlington and Blyth, as they prepare to watch the flame pass on its 8,000 mile journey through 1,000 towns, cities and villages nationwide.
Over the day around 100 people, nominated for their achievements, sporting contributions and community work, will help carry the torch through the county to North Tyneside, and the News Post Leader will be there to watch it happen.
We will be keeping you updated throughout the day on its progress throughout the county.
