A community radio station is aiming to temporarily hit the airwaves again while hoping to secure a longer licence.

South East Northumberland Radio Group has made an application for a 28-day FM broadcasting licence for Synergy to operate over August and September.

The group, which had a successful launch of the station in March 2012, recently celebrated their 100th management committee meeting.

They are hoping the second broadcast will give more local groups, charities and organisations the chance to promote their services to listeners.

Group chairman Colin Heathcote said: “Our committee has worked hard to reach the point where we can apply to Ofcom not only for a second 28-day licence but also for a licence to run the station on a full-time basis.”

They are working to convert an empty unit in Front Street, Bedlington, into a studio, raising more than £35,000 for the various costs. For information contact Colin on 01665 711358 or email colin.heathcote@snrgroup.co.uk
