Towns will be alive with the sound of music this summer as part of a series of 330 free ‘big gig’ concerts.

The events, including more than 30 across the north east, taking place from July 11 to 14, will be free for everyone and will take place at a wide variety of venues suitable for all ages from churches and cafés to parks to pubs, as well as a mosque and a rugby club.

The concerts include a performance at The bandstand in Blyth on Sunday, July 14, from 11am to 4pm, and at Headway ArtSpace in the town on Friday, July 12, from 10am to 10pm.

Concerts will also be held at Newbiggin bandstand and in Ashington’s Station Road, both on Saturday, July 13.

More than 200,000 are expected to attend the events nationwide.
