Police appeal for witnesses to fatal crash

GRIEVING relatives of an 81-year-old mother of three killed in a car crash are backing a plea by police for any witnesses to the fatal collision to come forward.

Cynthia Ronald, of Melling Road, Cramlington, died in hospital on Tuesday, February 1, just hours after her Ford Fiesta collided with a Mercedes lorry on the A189 Spine Road.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash near Cramlington just before 12.08pm.

Pc John Livingstone said: “This has been a very sad and tragic loss for Mrs Ronald’s family.

“We are keen to speak to anybody who may be able to help police with our inquiries.

“We urge anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or was near the area at the time, to get in touch with police.”
