Newbiggin Maritime Centre will offer ‘Trench Dinners’ this November for members of the armed services.
As well as hosting a poppy collection point and a knitted poppy appeal, and will now hold the dinners from Monday, November 3, to Saturday, November 8, from noon to 2pm.
Hosted by veteran Tommy, who served in the war from 1914 to 1918, a meal which replicates what was offered in the trenches during the conflict will be offered.
Served in mess tins with tin mugs and tin plates the meal will include potato and veg soup, corned beef hash, daily ration of cheese, jam and margarine and bread.
All of the profit from the dinners sold will be given to the Royal British Legion.
