Two arrested after man spotted with gun in Northumberland street

Two men were arrested in a Northumberland street after being spotted with potential weapons.

Armed police swooped on Disraeli Street in Blyth, just after 8.25pm on Wednesday, April 22, after reports of a man with a knife and what was believed to be a gun.

A 22-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Further enquiries were conducted and a second, 26-year-old man was arrested for firearms offences.

Both men remain in police custody and are assisting officers with their enquiries.
