NEW appointments have been made to an organisation which will take over health issues from primary care trusts next April.
The NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has appointed lay members to help shape the new organisation.
Jacqui Henderson CBE has been appointed to the post of lay chairwoman (designate), Trevor Waggett has taken up the audit lay governor (designate) and Peter Atkinson has been appointed to the patient and public involvement lay governor (designate) role.
Dr Alistair Blair, chief clinical officer (designate) of NHS Northumberland CCG, who is also a GP at Wellway Medical Group in Morpeth, is delighted with the appointments.
He said: “Becoming a lay member is an exciting opportunity as it means local people are able to influence the work of the CCG in the future.
“The lay members we have recruited bring with them a range of expertise and will help provide an independent view of the work of NHS Northumberland CCG.
“Our focus is on continuing to respond to the needs of the population while improving the quality of services and the health of the population overall.”
Mrs Henderson, who lives in Ashington and has a background in education and training, was chairwoman of Northumberland Care Trust and is currently vice-chairwoman of NHS North of Tyne.
