A provider of apprenticeships based in Cramlington is increasing its offer for those aged between 16 and 24.

North East Training Solutions (NETS) specialises in qualifications and training for the construction industry from purpose-built workshops and classrooms.

Participants will pick up useful skills in areas such as carpentry, joinery, brick laying, painting and decorating, plastering and tiling.

Specific courses include building and maintenance and plastering – Level 2 diploma and NVQ for both.

NETS, which has units at Bassington Industrial Estate, will shortly deliver both Level 2 diploma and NVQ for joinery. Centre approval for this will be ratified by the Construction Industry Training Board on April 18.

It will then progress to Level 3 accreditation in July.

Founder and managing director Michael Thompson said there was a lot of interest in these courses at its open day last Friday.

He added: “Adding to our apprenticeships offer will enable more young adults to learn vital skills that will help them to develop a career in the industry. We have a holistic approach to vocational learning, working closely with the learners, employers and local donors Howdens Joinery Cramlington to ensure every learner reaches their maximum potential.

“This approach enables each learner to have every chance of reaching full-time employment in the future.”
