THE practice manager of a Blyth vets has been shortlisted for Practice Manager of the Year in a prestigious awards ceremony.

Julie Whincup, of St Clair Veterinary Care, has been nominated in the Petplan Veterinary Awards for 2013, where it honours the country’s most exceptional vets, nurses, practices, practice managers and support staff.

Julie has been practice manager at St Clair since the practice opened in Blyth in July of last year.

When the previous veterinary surgery closed down, Julie took it upon herself to start a campaign in the form of a Facebook page to open a new veterinary surgery in the town.

The social media campaign sparked such public support that with the help of funding from a local business, the new St Clair surgery opened to serve the pet owners of Blyth.

Julie said: “I’m completely shocked to have been nominated in Petplan’s Veterinary Awards.

“I’m chuffed to bits that Petplan has named me as a finalist in the awards.”

The judges praised Julie’s personable nature with all clients, as she knows the name of every pet that is brought through St Clair’s doors.

Julie will find out if she has won tonight (Thursday) at a special awards ceremony taking place in Birmingham Town Hall.
