A community came together to celebrate the work of a lifesaving organisation.

A special blessing took place at Newbiggin RNLI Station, undertaken by Newbiggin lifeboat Chaplain Reverend Peter Sinclair.

The blessing is an established tradition in the lifeboat calender.

And then the community came together again for the annual Newbiggin Lifeboat Day.

A host of attractions and stalls were held around the lifeboat station, while there was a visit from some stand-out monster trucks.

The lifeboat crew were also on hand for a demonstration of their work, although they did receive an early call-out on the day after a 15ft angling boat suffered mechanical problems one mile off Newbiggin at 7.30am.
