Volunteer’s delight with full-time job

A teenager volunteer has secured full-time employment after his work with a charity.

Officials at Age UK Northumberland and Buzz Learning Ltd are delighted Peter Richardson has landed a job.

The 18-year-old volunteered in the cafe at The Round House in Ashington to increase his chances of finding work.

And now he has secured a catering Apprenticeship at Shambles cafe in Morpeth in August.

Michelle Silverton, trading and corporate services manager at Age UK Northumberland, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Peter, he has been an absolute pleasure to have and has matured before our eyes.

“We wish Peter all the best for the future.”

Peter said: “It’s been a really great experience working at Age UK Northumberland.

“I’m really looking forward to starting my new job.

“I’m really grateful for the support I have had and would recommend volunteering to anyone looking to get experience.

“It really helped me.”
