Walks will explore the history of one town

Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Genealogy Project is preparing to host its historic summer walks programme, led by project mentor and local family historian Joan Rose.

The first walk takes place on Saturday, July 27, along the promenade. Anyone interested should meet at Memorial Park at 1pm.

Another walk will take place on Wednesday, August 7, meeting at 6pm in Church Point car park.

The changing times of Newbiggin from 1851 to 1910 will be explored on Wednesday, August 14, from 6pm at Quay Wall.

And a walk looking at Newbiggin Colliery from 1911 to 1965 will take place on Saturday, August 31, at 1pm at the war memorial.
