GUIDES had to make a last minute change to the venue for a planned after heavy rain forced them indoors.

After weeks of planning, leaders of Girlguiding in Blyth transformed the Central Methodist Church for their Queen’s Diamond Games event.

Division commissioner Barbara Craigs said: “It would have been a case of having synchronised swimming for the girls. The field where we were to hold our event was flooded.”

The church became the ‘games stadium’ where unit banners were paraded to mark the opening ceremony.

Teams composed of rainbows, brownies and guides then competed against each other in races adapted from those originally planned.

At the closing ceremony prizes were presented.
