CAN Northumberland County Council explain to me, and the majority of tenants, the recent rule change just come in regarding the minimum age required for a bungalow?
The local authority has introduced a minimum age of 16 for an old age bungalow in its housing stock.
I say ‘old age’ to mean elderly people over 60, like myself.
Councillors are under the impression that the lifestyle of a 16-year-old is similar to a 60-year-old who probably only wants peace and quiet. Most young people are OK and get on with their lives, but the potential is there for arguments.
Would any councillor involved in the committee that passed this rule care to give the reasons why?
Other housing associations still maintain the 55, or the 60 years age limit, so should Northumberland County Council.
