Members of a WI group held a special party to celebrate the organisation’s centenary anniversary.

Newbiggin by the Sea WI members were joined by women from their twin WI, Woodlands Park in Gosforth, as well as Hilary Robson, chair of the Northumberland Federation.

The Centenary was celebrated with a two course meal and entertainment provided by president Eileen Brown who told the history of the WI and a song from each of the ten decades since the WI was originally formed in 1915.

Two of the oldest members, Gladys of Newbiggin, and Dorothy of Woodlands Park, cut the 100th Birthday cake.

The next meeting is in the WI Hall, Long Park, on September 8, at 7pm.
