Police are appealing for information after a bogus caller called at an address in Northumberland.

The incident happened around 2.15pm this afternoon, a man called at an address in Eider Close in Blyth and told the occupant he had tomato plants for next door.

The occupant let the man into the house, after he left she noticed that money from her handbag was missing.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for witnesses.

The man is described as white, mid 30s to 40, 6ft to 6ft 3 inches tall, slim build with a long thin face and a “mild” complexion.

He had a full head of hair that was brown with a flick at the front. He was well kept and clean shaven. He spoke with a local accent although his accent was not broad.
