A woman took part in a daring challenge to raise money for a group close to her heart.

Danielle Wilkinson undertook a sponsored zip wire from the top of the Baltic in Gateshead to raise funds for the South East Northumberland Stroke Support Group.

Danielle, who was brought up in Bedlington, decided to support the charity as both her grandmother and great-grandmother suffered strokes.

She completed the challenge dressed in a Wonder Woman onesie but forgot to cross her arms on the way down as she was scared watching what was going on so ended up punching herself in the face when her arms unexpectedly flew up.

Danielle raised a total of £284.72 and visited the Stroke Group to meet members who thanked her in person for her efforts.

The Stroke Support group meets at East Bedlington Community Centre, Station Street, on the third Monday of the month from 1pm to 3pm.
