A centre which provides employment support has received an award for making the region a healthier place to live and work.
The North East Better Health at Work Award recognises the efforts of local employers in addressing health issues within the workplace.
Blyth Resource and Initiative Centre (BRIC), which provides employment support and education to the local community, has been given a bronze award.
Tracy Machnicki from BRIC said: “Through achieving the Better Health at Work Bronze Award we have learned so much about the importance of being healthy, not only physically but mentally too.
“It was rewarding to see that our staff actually put new things in place in their own homes too such as providing healthier lunch boxes for their children and cutting down on smoking.
“It also helped the management team to recognise the importance of ensuring the mental health of the team which resulted in us putting new policies in place, as well as having literature and referral details for other expert organisations.
“A fabulous experience where the team’s hard work has really paid off.”
