Work has begun at a key road junction on the A1 near Morpeth.
Motorists are being warned that resurfacing work has begun on the roundabouts and entry and exit slip roads at Stannington.
There will be no access to either of the two roundabouts at the junction and slip roads between 8pm and 6am for 11 nights from Monday.
Any drivers seeking to use the main road junction overnight during this period will be directed to follow one of four diversions.
Nicholas Adshead, Highways Agency project manager, said:“ This resurfacing work has been planned overnight to minimise disruption and to take place when traffic flows are at their lowest.”
The diversions will be as follows:
n A1 northbound entry slip road closure at Stannington Bridge: Traffic diverted south to Seaton Burn interchange then onto the A1 northbound.
n A1 Northbound exit slip road closure at Stannington South: Traffic diverted A1 northbound to exit at A1/A167 Clifton interchange. Traffic diverted onto A1 southbound to A1 Stannington interchange southbound exit.
n A1 northbound exit slip road closure at Stannington interchange: Traffic diverted A1 northbound to exit at A1/A167 Clifton interchange. Traffic diverted onto A1 southbound to A1 Stannington interchange southbound exit.
n A1 southbound closure at Stannington Station exit slip: Traffic diverted south to Stannington Station Road, then to A192. Traffic to travel south to A192/A1068 roundabout.
