An athlete from Cramlington is taking on 40 charity challenges in a year to mark his 40th birthday.
David McGarry from Cramlington, is doing a yearlong XL Challenge to raise money for Dravet Syndrome UK, to help support families living with the syndrome and do medical research.
David said: “I was looking to find new ways of pushing myself and my fitness levels and attempting different things I had never done before.
“I had thought that taking part in my first marathon would be enough, but after chatting with the charity, friends and family; it grew into a monster.”
The charity is close to David’s heart as a friend of his has a daughter diagnosed with Dravet syndrome.
Through his challenge he would like to raise awareness for the syndrome and he is aiming to raise £4,000 by the end of the year.
