PUPILS from a Wallsend school have helped raise more than £500 recently by organising a fundraising event.

The children from Carville Primary School, raised £513.80 in aid of SignHealth, the national healthcare charity for Deaf people, by taking part in sign2sing.

Gemma Robson, from the school, said: “The children decided they would like to ask for sponsorship for taking part in the sign2sing event, where young people from all over the country and overseas signed a song in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.

“The children in years 3 to 6, researched the SignHealth website and discussed the issues faced by Deaf children and their families.”
