BUSINESSES in south east Northumberland are being urged to apply now to be in with a chance of landing an award.

Nominations are now open for the fifth annual Northumberland Business Awards.

Organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the News Post Leader, the event will see businesses from across the region battle it out for prizes in 12 categories.

Awards are handed out for best business start-up, using local suppliers, training, entrepreneurship, business in the community, technology, environmental awareness, export and apprenticeships.

A new prize, the Northumberland tourism award, has also been added to the mix this year.

Event organiser Lisa Aynsley said: “The event was a sellout last year, and we are anticipating it will be the same again this year.

“We are really excited about the new Northumberland tourism award category, which we expect will attract a lot of entries.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the great businesses and businessmen and women that Northumberland has to offer.”

Last year’s overall winner was Alnwick manufacturing firm William Hackett Chains.

Other winners included Stannington’s Moorhouse Farm, Blyth’s Quantum Elite, Ashington-based Carewatch South East Northumberland and Bad Apples North East, also based in Ashington.

The awards will be dished out at a black-tie dinner at Linden Hall Hotel, near Longhorsley, on Thursday, November 15.

To enter, fill in the nomination form on this page and e-mail it to lisa.aynsley@northeast-press.co.uk
