EUROPE: Still many questions

editorial image

The UK has voted to leave the EU. I accept this result, however it does raise some important questions over things that will have a very real impact on how all of our futures are shaped.

How will our pensions be affected? Will workers rights be protected? Is having a catchment area around our coastline a positive for the fishing industry? Can we still have social funding in our region? Will the EU money supplied to farmers and agricultural policy be replaced?

How do expats in the EU and EU residents who live and work in the North East stand? Will food prices increase?

These are only a few of the many issues we are about to face as a collective. They are all big questions which need to have serious debate.

As we all suspect, there was never a plan, so I will admit to being a little concerned at the moment.
