FOLLOWING the excellent return and parade of the Mary Joicey lifeboat to Newbiggin by the Sea on Sunday, March 13, I would like to thank Richard Martin, Dave Futers, Stephen Humphrey and Sheila Harrison and all the other volunteers for their hard work in returning the lifeboat and building the Newbiggin Maritime Centre.
I believe the Newbiggin Heritage Partnership has also good support from local councillors and organisations such as the county council, Wansbeck CVS and lottery funders – and all deserve a pat on the back.
In troubled times and with bad news stories, it is good to hear and see good news.
There was an excellent turn out on the Sunday, despite the weather, and it is good to see the community pulling together.
Hopefully the new centre, when completed, will bring lots of new visitors to the village.
Newbiggin by the Sea is slowly getting back on the map.
