HOSPITAL: Care worth dying for

Have your say

I have just had a most amazing healing experience in the new Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust hospital in Cramlington.

The professionalism, teamwork, care and going the extra mile were amazing, and I came through it restored and whole, and very grateful.

But what I want to share is the fact that I went into the new multi-million pound hospital with six pence in my wallet and came out with the same six pence.

I also know that there are going to be no demands arriving in the coming days for doctors’ fees, nurses’ salaries, cleaners’ wages, antibiotics, meals, medication, the single room, the wet room, cups of tea, examinations and the loving care handed out by everyone in that hospital, as standard.

I say thank goodness for the NHS and woe-betide any Tory ideas to bring the private into any aspect of it.

Millions have died to save our country.

The NHS is worth dying for in exactly the same way.
