HOSPITAL: Worried about road

editorial image

Whoever designed the slip road on the south exit on the A189 road for the Northumbria Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington needs to go back to the drawing board.

I found it so dangerous at night because it is so badly lit.

Just after I indicated to go left on the slip road, a large lorry was behind me, and because it is so badly lit and I had to slow down to see where the slip road was, the lorry missed me by just inches.

I was quite shaken up because the slip road is so short.

I can see that there will be a serious accident if someone is rushing to take a patient to A&E.

If any drivers or readers have experienced this, it would help to get something done before a tragedy occurs.

The only guideline is that after the green bridge you know it’s time to leave the A189.

I would appreciate any feedback from Northumberland County Council about this.
