REFUGEES: Locals also need help

Have your say

I wish to comment on a letter about refugees, (News Post Leader, June 2).

The 12 Syrian families mentioned are actually 12 families per year – the council didn’t state how many years this would be for. How come the council can find homes for them, but not for our own?

If we are such a rich country, why do we need food banks? Why is the NHS on its knees? Why are there so many redundancies? Why can young families not afford a home of their own?

This country is only a small island and can’t take in half the world.
