SCHOOLS: Lower the speed limit

editorial image

I live in Blyth and am a driver.

I am confused as to the school speed warning lights in Plessey Road.

In all of The Avenues there is a 20mph speed limit.

In all other areas where a school is situated a speed sign will tell drivers to travel at 20mph.

Yet Plessey Road has a 30mph limit, and the signage, accordingly, warns drivers the speed limit is 30mph.

Why is this?

Does the council not care for the safety of children’s lives in this area?
